Job Summary
This role follows a split‑shift schedule, with required morning and afternoon work hours. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child Personal Care Assistant to support children with developmental disabilities, including autism, in their daily activities and therapeutic programs. In this vital role, you will work closely with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote independence, enhance behavioral skills, and ensure a safe and nurturing environment. Responsibilities
- Assist children with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as feeding, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and self-care skills.
- Implement individualized care plans developed by licensed professionals, including behavioral therapy strategies and behavior management techniques.
- Support therapeutic interventions using applied behavior analysis (ABA) methods to reinforce positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Collect and document data on child progress, behaviors, and responses during therapy sessions to inform ongoing treatment plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistency across educational and therapeutic settings.
- Maintain accurate medical records, documentation of interventions, and compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality.
- Use medical terminology appropriately when recording observations or communicating with healthcare providers.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in educational, healthcare, or behavioral health settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of applied behavior analysis (ABA), behavioral therapy techniques, and behavior management strategies is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with assisting children with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a strong plus.
- Experience in special education or teaching roles that involve individualized instruction is beneficial.
- Ability to accurately collect data and maintain detailed medical records in accordance with HIPAA standards is essential.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to pediatric care and behavioral health will support effective communication.
