The Dietary Aide is responsible for supporting meal service and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, dish room, and dining areas. This role ensures residents receive safe, properly prepared meals served on clean and sanitized dishware.
Prepare and serve meals according to physician-ordered diets and facility menus
Follow menus and ensure proper substitutions are documented
Honor resident special requests within prescribed diet orders
Assist cooks with meal preparation and service
Ensure food is prepared and served in a safe, sanitary manner
Cover, label, and date all leftovers properly
Follow cleaning schedules as directed by the Food Service Manager
Notify supervisor of menu changes, supply needs, or equipment issues
Attend required in-service training sessions
Perform other duties as assigned
Must be of legal working age
Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions
Ability to communicate effectively in English
Ability to work respectfully with residents, families, and staff
Ability to work overtime when needed
Food handler certification required within 30 days of hire
Food Protection Manager training preferred or willingness to obtain
At least 1 year of dietary or institutional experience preferred
Knowledge of long-term care regulations preferred
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
Ability to carry up to 25 lbs
Ability to push or pull up to 50 lbs
Frequent standing, bending, stooping, and reaching
Exposure to wet, hot, or cold kitchen environments
Ability to perform repetitive cleaning and sanitation tasks
Ability to work in fast-paced or high-demand situations
