Overview
We are looking for an RN to complete Weekly Skilled Nursing Visits for a cancer patient in Columbus.
Duties
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic and Cerner.
- Administer medications via injections, IV infusions, and other routes while adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Assist with complex procedures including catheterization, suturing, tube feeding, dialysis management, and wound care such as ostomy care.
- Monitor patients’ physiological responses during treatments like ventilator management, trauma medicine interventions, and acute pain management.
- Coordinate patient care plans through case management strategies, discharge planning, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in settings like ICU, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or trauma centers.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and interpreting diagnostic imaging results such as sonography or mammography.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining accurate medical documentation and safeguarding patient confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license with current registration in the applicable state or region.
- Proven experience in diverse clinical environments such as hospital medicine, emergency room, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), or long-term care facilities like nursing homes and assisted living communities.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; familiarity with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology essential for accurate patient assessment and diagnosis.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges is highly valued.
- Ability to perform complex procedures such as IV insertion, phlebotomy, laboratory testing, and sterile processing techniques confidently.
- Excellent communication skills for triage assessments, patient education on health coaching topics like geriatrics or family planning, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
- Critical care experience including ICU or Level I/II trauma center exposure is a plus; familiarity with specialty areas such as hospice & palliative medicine or behavioral health is advantageous. Pay: $40.00 - $70.00 per hour
