Position Overview
We are seeking a detail‑oriented Technical Product Designer & Configurator to configure custom door systems, generate accurate technical drawings, and produce Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing. This role bridges engineering and production, ensuring every order is configured correctly, documented precisely, and fabricated to specification. Strong Excel programming skills (formulas, macros, automation) are essential for data accuracy and workflow efficiency.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Configuration
- Configure rolling doors, grilles, shutters, and specialty products using the company’s product configurator/MRP system.
- Validate dimensions, materials, hardware, and options for manufacturability.
- Identify configuration conflicts and propose engineering‑approved solutions.
Technical Drawings & Documentation
- Create 2D/3D CAD drawings, submittal packages, and fabrication details.
- Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) with complete component breakdowns.
- Maintain drawing standards, templates, and revision control.
Manufacturing & Production Support
- Work closely with fabrication, welding, and assembly teams to clarify design intent.
- Resolve discrepancies between drawings and shop‑floor requirements.
- Update drawings and BOMs based on engineering changes or field feedback.
Excel Programming & Data Automation
- Build and maintain Excel tools, including:
- Advanced formulas
- AutoCAD
- VBA macros
- Automated BOM or Shop sheets
- Improve workflow efficiency by automating repetitive engineering tasks.
- Ensure data accuracy across configurator, MRP, and engineering documents.
Cross‑Department Collaboration
- Review architectural drawings and customer specifications.
- Support sales, project managers, and engineering with technical clarifications.
- Assist in developing installation drawings and submittal packages.
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing, drafting, or product configuration.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar CAD tools.
- Strong Excel programming skills (VBA, macros, advanced formulas).
- Experience with ERP or product configurator systems.
- Ability to read architectural and engineering drawings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Pay: $68,953.78 - $83,041.12 per year
