Position Summary
As a Sanitation Crew Member at Suja Life, you'll play a key role in keeping our food and beverage production facility clean, safe, and running smoothly. You’ll help ensure our high standards for quality, safety, and cleanliness are met, supporting everything from day-to-day cleaning to deep sanitation practices that align with FDA regulations and customer expectations. If you’re reliable, detail-oriented, and take pride in maintaining a clean environment, this role is for you.
Schedule:
- 3rd Shift: 9:00 PM - 5:30 AM
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize the plant quickly and efficiently
- Workaround large processing equipment in which chemicals will complete the sanitation process.
- Must be able to work as a team along with other members of the crew
- Assist in transporting heavy equipment with forklifts, pallet jacks, carts or other devices
- Maintain and store records as needed
- Hand sweep or shovel debris and rubbish
- Gather and empty trash containers as requested
- Perform heavy manual labor such as scrubbing, brushing, water rinsing, using foamers, etc.
- Adhere to SOP, SSOP, GMP, and HACCP guidelines when in the plant.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions related to safety, equipment operation, and daily work assignments.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
Non-Essential Job Duties
- May perform similar and incidental duties as required.
Experience:
- Strong understanding of production processes, quality control, and safety protocols.
- 1+ years of sanitation or janitorial experience.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic production environment.
Language Skills:
- Ability to communicate, read, listen, and understand English.
- Bilingual is a plus.
Other Abilities:
- Ability to work well under time constraints and prioritize work to meet commitments/deadlines.
- Ability to work cross-functional with other departments.
Working and Environmental Conditions
Work is primarily performed in a wet, refrigerated production environment with temperatures below 40°F
May occasionally work in a dry warehouse setting with temperatures up to 85°F
Occasional exposure to freezer environments as low as -10°F
Workspaces may be tight or confined, requiring flexibility and awareness
Regular exposure to loud environments exceeding 85 dBA, hearing protection is required
Must follow strict safety protocols, including the use of PPE: Safety glasses, ear protection, gloves, smock, beard nets, hair nets, and steel-toed shoes
Role involves repetitive tasks that must be performed safely and efficiently
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand and walk throughout the entire shift
Frequent lifting and carrying of hoses, equipment, and chemical containers up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to push/pull up to 100 lbs. with consistent motion
Regular bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, twisting, and reaching overhead with both arms
Able to climb ladders and stairs, and occasionally work at heights
Frequent use of hands and fingers for gripping, handling, and controlling tools or objects with precision
Occasional exposure to moving machinery
Must be able to pass a fit-for-duty physical exam
