Role Overview:
BEPC Inc. is seeking a skilled Construction Quality Engineer to support our client’s ongoing construction project in St. Louis. This role is responsible for ensuring that all construction activities and materials meet established quality standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications. The project involves upgrades and expansions across three existing facilities, including new labs, GMP storage/warehouse areas, freezer spaces, and GMP manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate brings strong QA/QC expertise and a detail-oriented approach to maintaining quality throughout the construction lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement QA/QC plans for construction projects
- Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards
- Review and approve quality documentation, including inspection reports, test plans, and material submittals
- Review specifications across all disciplines (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, civil/structural, architectural) and verify field adherence
- Inspect construction quality, including fit and finish, and identify any code compliance concerns
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions
- Maintain detailed quality records and prepare reports for internal stakeholders
- Perform root cause analysis on quality issues and recommend preventive solutions
- Provide training and guidance on QA/QC processes to project teams
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical preferred), Construction Management, or related field
- 10+ years of QA/QC experience in the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
- Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and models
- Experience reviewing multi-discipline construction specifications and field execution
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality documentation tools (e.g., Word, OneNote)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Quality Management Professional (QMP)
- Experience in Life Sciences, GMP, or cleanroom construction environments
Contract Details:
- Tools & Systems: Ability to read Smartsheet and Primavera P6 schedules; documentation managed in Teams, Procore, SharePoint, Mango, and Meridian
- Additional Info: This role is focused on construction quality and is not responsible for financial reporting or ERP systems
