Job duties include: 1) Brushing, spraying, or hand-rubbing finishing ingredients, such as paint, oil, stain, or wax, onto and into wood grain; then applying lacquer or other sealers. 2) Disassembling items to prepare them for finishing, using hand tools. 3) Examining furniture to determine the extent of damage or deterioration, and then deciding on the best method for repair or restoration. 4) Filling and smoothing cracks or depressions with hand and power sanding, removing marks and imperfections, and repairing broken parts, using plastic or wood putty, glue, nails, and/or screws. 6) Mixing finish ingredients to obtain desired colors or shades. 7) Removing accessories prior to finishing, and masking areas that should not be exposed to finishing processes or substances. 8) Removing excess solvent, using cloths soaked in paint thinner. 9) Lifting and moving furniture and other items up to 75 lbs.
