Primary Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and Darul Arqam Academy curriculum.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs and learning styles of students.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, educational technology, and hands-on learning experiences to maximize student engagement.
- Foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Student Development
- Create a positive classroom environment that reflects Islamic values, respect, responsibility, kindness, and integrity.
- Encourage students to develop strong character, leadership skills, and a growth mindset.
- Promote social-emotional learning while maintaining high academic expectations.
- Support students' individual learning needs through appropriate instructional accommodations when necessary.
Classroom Management
- Establish clear classroom routines, expectations, and procedures.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and nurturing classroom environment.
- Implement positive behavior management strategies consistent with the school's discipline policies and Islamic principles.
- Encourage responsibility, accountability, and mutual respect among students.
Assessment & Student Progress
- Assess student learning using formative and summative assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress using the school's Student Information System.
- Analyze assessment data to guide instructional planning and improve student achievement.
- Prepare report cards and communicate academic progress regularly.
Parent Communication
- Develop strong partnerships with parents through regular communication.
- Respond promptly and professionally to parent inquiries.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events.
- Collaborate with families to support each student's academic and personal growth.
Professional Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with grade-level teams, administrators, counselors, and support staff.
- Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school improvement initiatives.
- Share best instructional practices and contribute to a positive school culture.
- Support school-wide programs, extracurricular activities, and special events as assigned.
Faith & School Community
- Model Islamic etiquette (Akhlaq), professionalism, and ethical conduct at all times.
- Integrate appropriate Islamic values into daily classroom instruction and interactions.
- Support the mission and vision of Darul Arqam Academy North.
- Serve as a positive role model for students both inside and outside the classroom.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (preferred).
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate or eligibility for certification (preferred).
- Experience teaching in an elementary, middle, or high school setting.
- Strong knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
- Excellent classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Experience using instructional technology, Google Workspace for Education, interactive learning platforms, and digital assessment tools.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and lifelong learning.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.
- Appreciation for and willingness to support the Islamic mission and values of Darul Arqam Academy North.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a private, faith-based, or Islamic school.
- Experience with Montessori or early childhood education (where applicable).
- ESL, Gifted & Talented, or Special Education certification.
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and inclusive classroom practices.
- Experience with project-based learning and STEM integration.
- Familiarity with learning management systems and educational technology.
