The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide rehabilitative services to residents in a skilled nursing and rehabilitation setting. This role focuses on helping residents improve their ability to perform activities of daily living and achieve their highest level of independence.
- Graduate of an accredited Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) program
- Current state COTA license or eligibility to obtain
- Previous experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach to care
- Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist
- Assist residents with therapeutic activities to improve mobility, strength, coordination, and independence
- Provide training in activities of daily living such as dressing, grooming, and bathing
- Document resident progress and communicate updates to the therapy team
- Maintain a safe and supportive therapy environment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support resident care plans
- Educate residents and families on therapy techniques and adaptive equipment
