The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals that meet the dietary needs and physician-ordered diets of residents in a skilled nursing facility. This position ensures food safety, quality, and compliance with state and federal regulations while supporting resident satisfaction and overall well-being.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes, menus, and therapeutic diet requirements (e.g., diabetic, mechanical soft, pureed, low sodium).
- Follow portion control standards and ensure consistency in food quality and presentation.
- Ensure all food is prepared and served in compliance with sanitation, safety, and infection control guidelines.
- Maintain proper food temperatures and document temperature logs as required.
- Assist with food preparation for special events, holidays, and resident celebrations.
- Work collaboratively with the Dietary Manager, dietitian, and dietary staff to meet resident needs and preferences.
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness by following cleaning schedules and maintaining equipment.
- Label, store, and rotate food according to food safety standards.
- Report equipment issues, food shortages, or safety concerns promptly.
- Assist with receiving and storing food supplies as needed.
- Interact respectfully and professionally with residents, families, and staff.
Pay: From $13.00 per hour
