Responsibilities
- Safely operate a box truck or similar commercial vehicle to deliver goods to residential and commercial locations according to scheduled routes
- Load and unload cargo using equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts, ensuring items are handled with care and secured properly for transit
- Plan efficient delivery routes to maximize productivity and minimize delays, adjusting plans as needed based on traffic or other unforeseen circumstances
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting recipients professionally, answering questions, and ensuring their delivery experience is positive
- Verify delivery details against orders, obtain signatures or proof of delivery, and complete all necessary documentation accurately
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to maintain safety standards; report any maintenance issues promptly
- Assist with warehouse tasks such as inventory management, organizing stock, or moving goods within the facility when not on the road
- Follow all traffic laws and company policies related to driving, safety protocols, and load securement procedures
Skills
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or courier, with a strong understanding of route driving and load handling
- Customer service skills that foster positive interactions with clients and team members
- Warehouse experience including loading/unloading cargo, heavy lifting, moving items safely, and operating equipment like forklifts or pallet jacks
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience driving box trucks or similar commercial vehicles preferred
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently and safely
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to heavy lifting, moving goods, and vehicle operation
- Strong organizational skills for route planning and managing delivery schedules efficiently
- Physical stamina for extended periods of driving and manual tasks such as lifting heavy packages or moving equipment
