The Role:
You'll lead the Nashville office's project management function: the operational and financial spine of seven active luxury residential projects. You manage the Construction Admin, Cost Management, and Materials Procurement teams — orchestrating communication, aligning priorities, and owning the outcome: on-time delivery within budget across custom homes and spec builds.
You're the executive liaison to ownership on every project. You coordinate directly with the Director of Construction Operations and all field superintendents. You own timeline and budget accountability end-to-end.
This isn't oversight from a distance. You recruit, lead, hold to account, and make people faster. When hiring or performance isn't working, you move on it.
What You'll Own
Office Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and recruit the Construction Admin, Cost Management, and Materials Procurement teams
- Set expectations, measure performance, and own accountability
- Make hiring and firing decisions
- Build a department that functions like a coordinated system, not silos
Project Management Across Portfolio
- Manage timeline, budget, and scope alignment across all active projects
- Execute weekly executive updates to ownership with predictable, transparent reporting
- Coordinate resource allocation between concurrent projects
- Identify and escalate risks early
Vendor & Supplier Relationships
- Build and maintain relationships with trades, material suppliers, and subcontractors
- Negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance
- Source new vendors where existing relationships don't fit the scope
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Interface with field superintendents and their teams daily
- Coordinate with Director of Construction Operations on operational priorities
- Ensure field teams have what they need; ensure office teams understand field reality
- Manage communication flow so nothing falls between departments
Financial Accountability
- Oversee cost projections, change order management, and budget tracking
- Ensure cost management team is delivering accurate data to ownership
- Manage cash flow and draw timing aligned with scope completion
- Flag budget risks before they become problems
About You
Experience & Expertise
- Minimum 7 years in residential construction project management at a senior level
- Proven track record leading custom home and/or spec residential projects of this caliber
- Strong P&L responsibility in a multi-project environment
- Experience managing office-based PM teams (construction admin, cost, procurement or similar)
- Proficiency with construction management software (familiarity with Buildertrend preferred)
Leadership & Judgment
- Comfortable making hiring and firing decisions; high bar for ownership mentality
- Ability to lead without micromanaging; delegates clearly and follows through
- Calm under pressure; solves problems instead of escalating every issue
- Direct communicator; no filter between thinking and saying what matters
- Integrity: honest with ownership about risk, timeline, and budget reality
Operational Mindset
- Systems-oriented; sees inefficiencies and fixes them
- Detail obsessed: catches problems early, not after they've compounded
- Process-driven; comfortable with checklists, KPIs, and accountability metrics
- Understands the economics of construction: margin, cash flow, risk management
Interpersonal
- Respected by field teams; understands construction operations and constraints
- Builds relationships across functions; coordinates without title authority
- Negotiator; can work deals with vendors and trades
- Client-facing; comfortable communicating with sophisticated ownership
