Summary of Position:
Provides pharmacy consulting services with empathy to patients regarding the effective usage of medications and awareness with drug interactions. Offers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcomes services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Patient Experience
- Engages patients by greeting them and helping with products and services. Resolves patient issues in a timely manner and answers questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and joyful patient experience, including interpersonal habits that show care (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy, etc.) and service traits (e.g., demonstrating curiosity to identify needs and proactively helping, servicing until satisfied, championing empathy and inclusivity, etc.).
- Connects with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services. Leads efforts on enhancing patient experience by increasing awareness of healthcare services offered (e.g. patient consultation, medication management, drug therapy reviews, and perform clinical, or wellness services such as immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcomes services) thereby promoting the shift of our pharmacy role from transactional to interpersonal.
- Participates and assists in events that reflect the unique communities we serve as requested by Director of Pharmacy Operations or Practice Manager.
Operations
1. Serves as on-duty supervisor of pharmacy department ensuring that all essential functions of the pharmacy operation are adequately maintained.
2. Provides supervision and guidance for all support staff working in the pharmacy department.
3. Offers feedback and comments on the performance of department support staff to Pharmacy Director.
4. Implements staff schedules for the pharmacy location.
5. Serves as primary customer care advocate ensuring that customer service standards are maintained by all pharmacy personnel.
6. Support company safety standards. Communicate any needed equipment repairs or maintenance work needed.
7. Ensures completion/maintenance of records and reports as required by regulation or the Executive Director and /or corporate policy and procedures.
8. Supports training of all personnel at the pharmacy location; recommends interventions for training to Executive Director.
9. Works closely with other Pharmacists and Executive Director to develop and implement operational enhancement and efficiency enhancement programs and practices for the pharmacy location.
10. Works closely with Pharmacy Director and pharmacy personnel to identify, develop and execute marketing opportunities to enhance pharmacy sales.
11. Monitors adjudication of third-party claims, conducting follow-up as necessary to ensure claims are paid in a timely fashion; identifies problems in third party systems and report to Pharmacy Director.
12. In coordination with Pharmacy Director, ensures that all company policies, procedures and practices are maintained and followed by all pharmacy personnel.
13. Monitors pharmacy inventory and provides oversight of inventory purchasing and return systems.
14. Ensures that pharmacy maintains compliance with all state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
15. Performance primary functions of retail pharmacist including; but not limited to:
a. Proper and accurate dispensing of prescription medication
b. Operation of claim adjudication system.
c. Patient counseling and health advocacy.
d. Liaison services with patients; prescribers and other individual/organization having business with or requesting pharmacy services.
e. Make clinical decisions on each prescription that is presented. These decisions include but are not limited to: Drug to Drug interactions, Drug-Disease-State checks, Allergy profile, dosage, strength, quantity checks etc.
f. Accurately prepare and dispense medication in full compliance with the physician's order, and all applicable law.
g. Able to work for up to 8 hours without assistance. Long periods of time are spent standing on a concrete floor with a cushioned mat.
h. Able to reach and retrieve medication from floor level to overhead level.
i. Stocking of pharmacy requires the employee to bend, stretch and reach. This will include the ability to lift weights of up to 25lbs.
j. Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses and patients.
k. Counsel patients on the proper use of medications, OTC products, durable medical equipment and other health care needs, including possible side effects and precautions.

People & Performance Management
- Manages pharmacy staff performance by conducting formal performance reviews, oversees and ensures the training of pharmacy employees (e.g., using the correct processes and tools to drive efficiency in the pharmacy, leading and driving technician tasks and activities). Ensures compliance with employment laws.
- Addresses employee relations concerns and maintains morale by checking on employee welfare, addressing complaints, conflicts and ensures positive employee management relationship.
Training & Personal Development
- Maintains current knowledge and required licensing/credentialing/certification as established by federal and state regulations to provide such clinical services.
- Maintains and enhances current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy related journals, company publications, and communications. Maintains awareness of developments in retail and management and pursues best practices that would enhance performance and business acumen.
- Obtains necessary certifications, education credits and training, including learning modules, as required by the Company.
- Seeks professional development by monitoring one’s performance, solicits for constructive feedback, and leverages Director of Pharmacy Operations as a mentor and coach.
Communications
- Responsible for analyzing performance data including pharmacy financial, customer service, and inventory. Manages pharmacy asset protection activities and oversees inventory management. Identifies pharmacy performance trends and opportunities for improvement.
Business Planning
- Develops and maintains good relationships with local medical community including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers. Reaches out to the community to promote the pharmacy business and further enhance growth opportunities. Supports Director of Pharmacy Operations in expanding health and wellness awareness in the community.
Position Requirements / Qualifications:
- BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D Degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Current pharmacist licensure in the state.
- Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.
- At least 1 year pharmacy experience including prescription filling, recordkeeping, legal compliance, pharmacy operations, pharmacy software and technology systems and insurance billing.
- Experience performing prescription dispensing activities that demonstrate a strong working knowledge of applicable state and federal controlled substance laws.
- Supervisory experience planning, organizing, and directing the work of pharmacy staff.
- At least 5 year experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting including prescription filling and verification, records and legal compliance, pharmacy operations, pharmacy software and technology systems and insurance.
· Pharmacy hours are Monday – Friday from 8am – 5pm (closed from 12pm – 1pm for unpaid meal break)
· Compensation: $134,000.00-163,000.00
