The Accountant supports the day-to-day financial operations of the organization and ensures accurate, timely recording of financial transactions. This role works closely with senior accounting staff to maintain the general ledger, process transactions, and support financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
1. General Accounting
- Record daily financial transactions in the general ledger
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts
- Responsible with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)
- Responsible bank and credit card reconciliations
- Maintain organized and accurate financial documentation
2. Month-End and Year-End Close
- Responsible with month-end close activities
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for financial statements
- Help ensure accurate and timely closing of books monthly
- Provide reports and support for annual audits
3. Financial Reporting Support
- Prepare standard financial reports for management review monthly
- Compile data for budget-to-actual comparisons
- Responsible with internal and external reporting requirements
4. Internal Controls & Compliance
- Follow established accounting policies and procedures
- Help improve processes to increase accuracy and efficiency
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and organizational policies
5. Grant Billing & Grant Tracking
- Prepare grant invoices and reimbursement requests
- Track expenditures by grant and program
- Maintain documentation for grant audits (receipts, payroll allocations, timesheets)
- Work with program staff to ensure costs are allowable and properly coded
- Assist with funder financial reports (monthly/quarterly/annual)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred
- Understanding of GAAP and general ledger practices
- Proficiency with accounting software QuickBooks
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently or as part of a team
- Strong Excel skills

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
