Senior Project Controls Specialist
Location: Raleigh, NC (Local Candidates Only)
ASAP is hiring on behalf of our client for an experienced Senior Project Controls Specialist to support large-scale capital projects in the Raleigh, NC area. This is an excellent opportunity for a project controls professional with a strong background in cost management, budgeting, forecasting, procurement support, and financial reporting within construction, engineering, or capital project environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project budgets, cost forecasts, and financial reports.
- Prepare early-stage budgets and detailed cost estimates.
- Monitor project costs, commitments, actual expenditures, and accruals.
- Conduct monthly cost reviews and provide variance analysis to project teams.
- Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Process and evaluate change requests, including budget, scope, and risk impacts.
- Maintain accurate change logs and audit-ready project documentation.
- Review purchase requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Support procurement activities, bid evaluations, contract compliance, and invoice validation.
- Collaborate with project teams to resolve financial discrepancies and vendor-related issues.
- Identify project financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Monitor schedule impacts on project budgets and cash flow projections.
- Track project progress against baseline schedules and perform schedule quality reviews.
- Conduct root cause analysis of schedule delays and recommend corrective actions.
- Support project financial closeout activities, ensuring all project costs are captured and documentation is complete.
- Maintain accurate project information within project management and reporting systems.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and financial reporting activities.
- Contribute historical cost and benchmark data for future projects.
Qualifications
- 6–10+ years of experience in Project Controls, Cost Control, or Cost Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting, project accounting, and financial analysis.
- Experience supporting construction, engineering, infrastructure, real estate, or capital projects.
- Experience with procurement processes, including purchase requisitions (PRs), purchase orders (POs), contract reviews, and invoice validation.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with project cost management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience performing variance analysis and risk assessments.
- Experience supporting schedule analysis and understanding schedule impacts on project financial performance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across project teams.
- Professional certifications such as AACE, RICS, or equivalent are preferred but not required.
- Experience with dashboards, reporting tools, business analytics, or financial automation is a plus.

Pay: $48.00 - $67.00 per hour
