Trades Worker:
High School diploma or possession of GED and two (2) years of experience in public assembly building or maintenance and repair in plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, mechanical pipe installation and repair.
A comparable amount of education and training may be substituted for the minimum experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.
Senior Trades Worker:
High School diploma or possession of GED and Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance and repair in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, air conditioning, pipe installation and repair.
Journeyman level experience in one or more of the skilled trades, (e.g. plumbing, pipe laying, electrical, mechanical, air conditioning.).
Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of appointment and maintain thereafter.
CDL (level to be determined by division) may be required depending on position assignment.
A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Trades Worker:

Knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and tools of one or more of the building trades.

Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.

Ability to perform advanced complex work.

Ability to perform work in one or more of the trades without close supervision.

Skilled in the use and care of tools, equipment, and materials of the trades to which assigned.

Ability to work under stressful conditions.

Ability to interact effectively with others.

Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs.

Ability to work from maps, blueprints, schematics and mechanical drawings.

Ability to perform work from oral and written instructions.

If assigned to Parks, Recreation, and Culture:

Ability to safely operate medium-size weight construction equipment and vehicles (e.g. tractor, front loader, mini excavator, skid loader, dump truck, pick-up truck, and trailer).

Ability to safely load and unload trailer equipment and materials.
ADA REQUIREMENTS
Physical Demands: Ability to see (depth perception, color, acuity), hear, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach overhead, climb, grasp, lift , carry, pull, push 100 pounds. Ability to traverse uneven, wet, or broken terrain.
Environmental Demands: Inside and outside work. May require exposure to inclement weather (heat, humidity, cold, and rain), chemicals, dust, confined spaces and poor ventilation.
Mental Demands: Ability to read and comprehend work orders, safety and operational instructions, maps, blueprints, schematics, mechanical drawings, instructions, procedures, memos. Ability to perform shop math. Ability to write simple sentences relaying information, data and details to others
Senior Trades Worker:

All the knowledge of the lower-level trades workers.

Skilled in performing advanced, complex work at the journeyman level in one or more of the building trades.

Ability to supervise and/or train unskilled/semi-skilled subordinate personnel.

Skilled in laying out jobs with cost and material estimates.
