The Universal Group, a wholesale warehouse distributor of heavy and light duty parts, headquartered in Pennsauken, NJ seeks to hire a Quality Control Inspector. The Universal Group is a family business offering a friendly and welcoming culture and atmosphere; many employees have been with the company for 25+ years. Experience in wholesale industrial parts quality control applications preferred but not required. The successful applicant will be detail oriented with strong follow up skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Role Overview: The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for managing and driving continuous improvement within the company. This role ensures all incoming products meet engineering specifications and maintains the integrity of the company’s quality records and calibration standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Incoming Inspection: Perform inspections of incoming products based on company Quality Manual attributes; maintain detailed conformity logs.
- Nonconforming & Returned Product: Identify, label, and safeguard nonconforming goods. Evaluate product returns, issue Corrective & Preventive Actions, and manage the disposition of rejected materials.
- First Article Inspection: Complete and log First Article Reports for new parts or new vendors to ensure quality & viability.
- Inventory Control: Update product inspection status in the ERP system, moving conforming goods and segregating nonconforming goods.
- Product Change Oversight: Initiate and inspect repairs, rework, or modifications.
- Supplier Management: Liaise with purchasing & suppliers regarding nonconformities and collaborate to maintain supplier quality.
- Equipment Maintenance: Manage the inventory and calibration of all inspection gauges and tools internally and coordinating with external vendors.
Required Qualifications:
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications.
- Experience: Background in Automotive, Metalworking, or Quality Systems (ISO 9001 or similar preferred). Willing to consider an open range of years of experience.
- Computer Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with ERP/Inventory software is a plus.
- Physical/Logistics: Licensed or able to become certified to operate a forklift.
Salary range is $22.00-$24.00/hour.
