Job Summary
Vital Care of Littleton is a specialty infusion pharmacy and ambulatory infusion clinic providing high quality, compassionate infusion therapy to patients across the Denver metro area. We partner with physicians, hospitals, and specialty practices to deliver safe, comfortable, and clinically excellent care outside the hospital setting.
Responsibilities:
- Assesses all patients assigned and establishes and implements the Plan of Care
- Adheres to policies and procedures addressing the scope of services outlined in both Infusion nursing services, pharmacy services and state laws and regulations
- Adheres to INS and IgNS standards of practice, CDC guidelines, scope and standards of practice, and code of ethics as defined by American Nurses Association
- Collaborates with pharmacy staff, sales partners, ordering provider and patient to develop and monitor goals of patients’ therapies
- Completes patient care documentation in place of service including patients’ home or AIS
- Manages vascular access devices, to include insertion of peripheral infusion devices and ability to draw labs via peripheral venipuncture
- Educates patients and caregivers
- Evaluates progress toward goals and makes recommendations to physicians for changes in the Plan of Care based on patients’ needs
- Coordinates nursing care with home health and other community agencies as indicated
- Participate in on-call rotation as scheduled per branch protocol
- Complete expense reports monthly tracking mileage and other miscellaneous incidental expenses
- Complete annual competencies and mandatory training within assigned due dates
Qualifications
Required: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in good standing with the State Board of Nursing
Required: A minimum of three (3) years clinical experience
Required: Travel to patients homes for infusion therapy
Required: A minimum of one (1) year experience in acute care or alternate site IV therapy
Required: Excellent interactive skills with employees, physicians, referral sources, and consumers
Required for PICC Insertion RNs: Personal liability insurance with additional training premium. Expanded clinical practice in the insertion of PICC lines includes: state board of nursing scope of practice compliance, completion of an INS approved PICC course, clinical shadowing experience with an active PICC team when possible, and participation in an INS accepted infusion standard PICC preceptorship program with the supervision of no less than eight (8) PICC’s.
Preferred: IV certification (i.e., CRNI) or other infusion-related certification
Physical Requirements
May require lifting over 20 lb. (i.e. Lifting patient supply bags/tote boxes)
May require bending during patient procedures (i.e. Inserting catheters while bending over supine patient)
May require frequent use of computer keyboard (i.e. Data entry, patient documentation, label preparations, etc.)
Will require use of latex products unless non latex is provided for known sensitivities (i.e Clean and sterile gloves; latex injection ports)
May require moderate to extensive driving (i.e. Patient visit in outlying areas)
Essential Job Functions:
Perform infusion nursing related procedures within patient homes and ambulatory infusion center environments in compliance with regulatory and industry standards and organizational policies and procedures.
Provide education and training to patients and caregivers, ensuring understanding of therapy, equipment use, and infection prevention practices.
Document patient care, clinical interventions, and communications in a timely and accurate manner in task management system, CareTend, or other required systems.
Report adverse events, medication errors, or infection control concerns promptly, and participate in performance improvement activities.
Pay: $48.00 - $51.50 per hour
