Marion Animal Hospital is a curbside clinic due to space, but don't let that fool you we try to keep up with the most updated equipment, digital ultrasound, digital xray, imagyst, etc
We are now a two doctor practice. Hours are Monday thru thursday 7:30am to close 5-6? pm Fridays are 7:30am to noon. No weekends or late night emergencies. We are looking for an individual that is a self starter, punctual and reliable, willing to be part of an awesome team but knows sometimes will have to do tasks on their own.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures, ensuring all equipment and instruments are prepared and sterilized.
- Perform animal restraint using proper techniques to facilitate safe and stress-free procedures for pets of all sizes.
- Collect blood samples via venipuncture (IV insertion), perform laboratory tests, and process diagnostic radiology images such as X-rays to support accurate diagnoses.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments under veterinary supervision while monitoring animal responses during anesthesia or critical care situations.
- Maintain detailed medical records using veterinary software,intravet, documenting procedures, patient history, and treatment plans accurately.
- Support pet owners with post-procedure care instructions and answer questions about pet health, nutrition, and grooming needs.
- Assist with animal husbandry tasks including kennel cleaning, feeding, grooming, and ensuring a clean, safe environment for all animals in our care.
Skills
- MUST HAVE AT LEAST 1 YEAR TECHNICIAN EXPERIENCE !
- Proven kennel experience combined with animal handling skills to manage pets safely and confidently.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques essential for clinical procedures.
- Experience with dental terminology and assisting in dental cleanings or procedures is highly valued.
- Familiarity with laboratory work such as phlebotomy (blood draws), diagnostic radiology (X-ray operation), and veterinary anesthesia monitoring.
- Ability to perform veterinary surgical assistance including animal catheterization, IV insertion, vascular access, and anesthesia administration.
- Strong communication skills for client interaction, explaining treatments clearly while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
- Experience with emergency medicine protocols and critical & intensive care procedures to respond effectively during urgent situations.
- Competence in operating medical equipment such as radiology machines, anesthesia monitors, and laboratory analyzers.
