The Opportunity Center (The O.C.) – Bay City, MI
At The Opportunity Center Clubhouse (The O.C.), we provide a welcoming, non-clinical community space for people living with mental illness. Our focus is on healing and recovery through meaningful work, relationships, and opportunity.
At The O.C., participants are not “clients” or “patients” – they are colleagues and valued members. Together, staff and members work side-by-side to carry out the daily operations of the Clubhouse, known as the Work-Ordered Day. This collaborative approach ensures that everyone’s contributions are needed, valued, and respected.
Our mission is to create an environment where individuals can build confidence, skills, perseverance, and a sense of accomplishment while working toward their personal, vocational, educational, and social goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with members to support the daily work and operations of the Clubhouse.
- Encourage and assist members in pursuing vocational, educational, housing, and socialization goals.
- Support the Clubhouse’s Transitional Employment Program and other employment opportunities.
- Maintain accurate documentation in alignment with Clubhouse and agency standards.
- Participate in ongoing training related to the Clubhouse model and the mental health field.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, database use).
- Ability to motivate others, create structure, and adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (can be obtained after hire).
- Must pass a background check.
Preferred:
- College degree in occupational therapy, social work, vocational rehabilitation, psychology, or related field – or commensurate experience in a mental health or rehabilitation setting.
- Knowledge of or experience with the Clubhouse Model of Psychosocial Rehabilitation.
Why Join The O.C.?
- Be part of a member-led community that makes a real impact.
- Work alongside people in a setting that emphasizes respect, dignity, and opportunity.
