Located in Brighton, MA, Shaloh House Day School (K-7th grade), offers a unique educational experience. Our teachers are subject-specific experts; beginning in first grade, Shaloh House students are taught by different, highly-trained educators in math, science, English, Hebrew, and Judaic. Our elementary school graduates go on to local public schools, private and religious schools, as well as Boston’s exam schools. Duties
- Lead and facilitate a variety of arts and crafts projects tailored to different age groups, ensuring activities are engaging, educational, and age-appropriate
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment by implementing proper behavior management and supervision techniques
- Support children in developing fine motor skills, creativity, and self-confidence through hands-on art activities
- Enforce safety protocols including first aid procedures, CPR, AED operation, and emergency response plans when necessary
- Collaborate with other staff members to plan thematic activities that promote youth development and community engagement
- Monitor student progress and provide positive reinforcement to encourage participation and effort
- Ensure all materials are used responsibly and maintain inventory of supplies for ongoing program needs
Skills
- Strong classroom management skills to maintain a positive learning environment
- Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, including daycare or summer camp experience
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management strategies
- Ability to implement first aid protocols confidently; certifications in CPR, AED operation, and first aid are highly desirable
- Background in special education or experience working with children with diverse needs is a plus
- Excellent child supervision skills to ensure safety during all activities
- Proven ability to facilitate youth group activities, tutoring, or theater experiences that foster creativity and teamwork
- Outdoor work experience is beneficial for organizing outdoor art projects or nature-inspired activities
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, and team members
- Enthusiasm for teaching arts education with a focus on nurturing young talents in a supportive environment

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2.0 – 3.0 per week
