Position Summary
The Backup Driver / Warehouse Assistant is responsible for supporting daily warehouse operations while serving as a backup delivery driver for Prince of Peace Enterprises Inc. when regular drivers are unavailable or during peak delivery periods.
This position ensures timely, accurate, and safe delivery of products while maintaining efficient warehouse operations and excellent customer service. The role requires flexibility, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and teamwork. Warehouse/backup driver roles combine warehouse duties with delivery coverage to support business continuity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
Assist in Order Picking, Fulfillment, Inventory Loading / Unloading
- Pick, pack, stage, and prepare customer orders accurately.
- Load and unload delivery trucks using pallet jacks and forklifts.
- Organize inventory and replenish picking locations.
- Conduct cycle counts and assist with inventory accuracy.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and comply with food safety requirements.
- Ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO where applicable).
- Report damaged or missing products to supervisors.
- Assist with repacking, labeling, and palletizing products.
- Follow all warehouse safety procedures and Good Distribution Practices (GDP).
Delivery Responsibilities
Serve as a backup delivery driver during vacations, sick leave, peak seasons, or emergency coverage.
- Safely operate company delivery vehicles, including cargo vans and box trucks.
- Deliver products to retail stores, supermarkets, distributors, and warehouse customers throughout assigned territories.
- Verify delivery quantities with customers and obtain required signatures.
- Handle customer returns following company procedures.
- Maintain delivery documentation, logs, and proof of delivery.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues immediately.
- Plan efficient delivery routes to maximize productivity.
- Maintain a professional appearance and provide courteous customer service during deliveries. Backup driver roles commonly include safe vehicle operation, delivery documentation, customer interaction, and vehicle inspections.
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all Department of Transportation regulations (where applicable).
- Comply with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Operate forklifts and warehouse equipment safely.
- Wear required Personal Protection Equitpment.
- Report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, or product damage immediately.
- Maintain safe driving records.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Experience
- 1-3 years of warehouse experience preferred.
- Previous delivery driving experience preferred.
- Food distribution or consumer packaged goods experience is a plus.
Licenses
- Valid California Driver License (Non-Commercial Class C License) with a clean driving record.
- Forklift certification preferred (or ability to become certified).
- DOT Medical Card preferred if operating vehicles requiring DOT compliance.

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Flexibility to adjust schedules based on business needs.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs independently.
- Occasionally lift up to 75 lbs with assistance.
- Stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and climb throughout the workday.
- Work in warehouse and outdoor environments under varying temperatures.
- Ability to safely enter and exit delivery vehicles multiple times per day.
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday.
- Occasional overtime, weekends, or holidays during peak business periods.
- Flexible schedule required to provide driver coverage when needed.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
