Texas Land Surveying is currently looking for a Crew Chief to lead a field crew out of our Georgetown office.

As a Crew Chief, you'll take the lead on a wide variety of projects across Central Texas, including Boundary Surveys, Title Surveys, Form Surveys, Final Surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Plats, Topographic Surveys, Construction Staking, and Right of Way Surveys. As well, our Crew Chief's mentor the next generation of surveyors on their crew.
Position Description
This position leads a survey crew in the field, directing day-to-day data collection and staking activities under the general supervision of a Registered Professional Land Surveyor. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details; unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Essential Duties
- Controls the function of surveying instruments and calculators; operates robotic total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
- Directs and coordinates the daily activities of the survey crew, including task assignment and equipment setup.
- Reads and interprets construction plans, plats, and legal descriptions; organizes and reviews field notes for accuracy.
- Selects instruments and equipment needed for the day; ensures equipment is clean, calibrated, and operational.
- Locates, sets, and verifies boundary markers and control points.
- Trains and mentors entry-level crew members, including Rodmen and Chainmen.
- Maintains a safe and effective working relationship with crew members, clients, and other stakeholders on-site.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years' total survey experience.
- Must be proficient in the use of robotic total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
- Ability to read construction plans and organize field notes.
- Possess good social skills, and effective written and oral communication skills.
- Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential requirements.
- Valid Driver's License with an insurable driving record.
- Background check required.
Compensation
- Salary Range: $25 - $35/hour.
- Overtime pay upon prior approval.

Work Schedule
While some projects may take you beyond 35 miles from the office, our crews are not expected to travel for extended periods — you'll be home every night.
