Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays) using advanced medical imaging equipment to assist in accurate diagnosis.
- Conduct patient assessments by measuring vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and evaluating oral health status.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including documentation review and updates in electronic health records in Dentrix.
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention management protocols, utilizing aseptic techniques and healthcare infection prevention and control expertise to ensure patient safety.
- Manage dental equipment sterilization, infection control procedures, and compliance with HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards including HIPAA privacy rules and documentation review processes.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental clinic or healthcare environment.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical coding, and general dentistry procedures.
- Demonstrated understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and infection prevention management.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team using effective communication skills in pediatric dentistry settings when needed.
