Practice: Animal Cancer Care Clinic (ACCC)
Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Schedule: Full-Time/3 Shifts Per Week
- Available Overnight Shifts: Monday-Sunday, 6:00 PM - 7:00 AM
About Us: Animal Cancer Care Clinic is dedicated exclusively to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer in animals. With seven locations across Florida, our full-service wellness center in Fort Lauderdale provides comprehensive care, including medical oncology, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, surgical oncology, and clinical trials.
The Opportunity:
Animal Cancer Care Clinic is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and motivated Overnight Veterinary Technician to provide exceptional overnight care for our hospitalized oncology and emergency patients.
This position is ideal for a technician or experienced veterinary nurse who enjoys critical care, patient monitoring, and working independently while maintaining close communication with our veterinary team.
Our overnight nurses play a vital role in ensuring our hospitalized patients receive attentive, high-quality medical care throughout the night while providing compassionate support to their families.
What You'll Do:
As our Overnight Veterinary Technician, you will:
Patient Care
- Monitor hospitalized and emergency patients throughout your shift.
- Administer medications (IV, IM, SQ, PO, G-tube, etc.).
- Perform treatments according to treatment sheets.
- Monitor IV catheters, IV fluids, urinary catheters, and infusion pumps.
- Place IV catheters and initiate fluid therapy when indicated.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and communicate concerns to the veterinarian.
- Document patient status thoroughly throughout your shift.
- Ensure patients are clean, comfortable, and receive individualized nursing care.
- Walk hospitalized patients and document eliminations.
- Provide exceptional TLC to every patient.
Diagnostics & Technical Skills
- Collect blood and laboratory samples.
- Perform in-house laboratory testing.
- Perform ECGs, Doppler blood pressures, radiographs, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Operate laboratory analyzers and monitoring equipment.
- Fill prescriptions as directed.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
Client Communication
- Provide compassionate updates to pet owners.
- Answer client questions professionally.
- Recognize after-hours emergencies requiring veterinarian involvement.
- Communicate using professional medical terminology.
Hospital Operations
- Answer and manage the hospital phone system overnight.
- Return client calls promptly when patient care allows.
- Clean and maintain treatment and exam areas.
- Keep cages clean and patients comfortable.
- Maintain laundry throughout the shift.
- Stock supplies and notify management of low inventory.
- Assist with general hospital cleanliness and organization.
- Prepare treatment sheets for the following day.
We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Has previous veterinary technician or veterinary nursing experience (emergency or specialty experience preferred)
- Is comfortable working independently overnight
- Has strong critical thinking and patient assessment skills
- Can prioritize multiple patients and treatments efficiently
- Is compassionate toward clients and patients
- Has excellent communication skills
- Is dependable, organized, and detail-oriented
- Works well under pressure in emergency situations
- Is comfortable handling dogs and cats of all sizes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Credentialed Veterinary Technician (LVT, CVT, or RVT) preferred but not required
- Emergency, ICU, or specialty hospital experience preferred
- Proficiency with IV catheter placement, blood collection, anesthesia monitoring, and hospitalized patient care
- Experience with veterinary software (EzyVet experience is a plus)

Experience:
- veterinary technician: 2 years (Required)
License/Certification:
- Veterinary Technician License (Preferred)
