Position Summary:
Ensures efficient and effective operations of all retail stores within an assigned district, resulting in increased profit and mission fulfillment. Responsible for the successful operation of primary stores as well as technical assistance, training, and leadership development for GWH.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead, train, and coach assigned Store Managers in conjunction with Human Resources (HR) and other support departments to meet GWH’s objectives and ensure each leader works within a framework of professional and personal development.
Lead, train, and coach store leaders and partners with other departments to maximize sales per square foot, donor value, sell-through, average transaction, and revenue.
- Train and manage associates to ensure safe and efficient operations as well as mission integration.
- Train, develop, and manage operational leadership to achieve the goals set forth by GWH.
- Assist with the selection, training, development, and evaluation of managing associates to ensure safe and efficient operations within the framework of GWH’s policies, procedures, and job descriptions.
- Ensures and provides open and honest communication that encourages all associates to work safely and keep themselves, customers, and donors out of harm's way.
- Understands and represents GWH’s zero-tolerance for discrimination, harassment, workplace violence, failure to report accidents/incidents, substance abuse, theft, or related offenses.
- Visits retail stores regularly to review performance and labor issues and provide technical insight and advice.
- Proactively resolves conflicts among the collection, production, distribution (external and internal), and sales processes of donated goods.
- Ensure the integrity of expense budgets for applicable departments.
- Monitor performance by measuring and analyzing results and data.
- Assist in preparing and submitting annual retail store and other operational budgets, and ensure the operation stays within budgeted expense-to-revenue ratios.
- Ensure that accidents, incidents, near-misses, or property damage are reported in a timely manner according to GWH policies.
- Ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and the image of GWH stores and that all safety, security, and housekeeping procedures are adhered to.
- Responsible for ensuring that statistical counts (i.e., donor counts, apparel hang counts, POS production, etc.) are complete, accurate, and provided in a timely manner.
- Responsible for regularly reviewing and analyzing POS reports (i.e., readings, cash reports, daily/monthly/yearly activity reports, transmittal of reports, daily deposits, comment cards, etc.) to assess trends, monitor progress on established goals, and make recommendations for change.
- Ensure all CARF standards are maintained.
- Keep abreast of product knowledge, industry trends, and competitive pricing through comparative competitors (e.g., full and discounted retail, consignment, second-hand thrift, etc.).
- Assist and support safety programs and management efforts to lower accident rates and insurance costs.
- Support donation transportation to ensure customer-friendly, efficient, and safe transportation operations.
- May be required to participate in activities and training outside of GWH.

Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of five (5) years of full-time retail sales experience at a management level, including two (2) years at a multi-unit management level, is preferred.
A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Excellent computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Office).
A background in retail sales with experience in merchandising, display, layout, and customer service is preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of the organization.
Strong time-management skills and the ability to multitask.
Proven background in managing people, supervising work duties, and good people skills.
Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
Regular twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and, occasionally, lift/move items up to 100 lbs. (e.g., large bags of donations, televisions, furniture, etc.)
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Moderate indoor noise with periodic exposure to outside temperatures.
