Job Summary
SOHO Suites Atlantic City is looking for an experienced, detail oriented Housekeeping Supervisor who takes pride in cleanliness and understands that the smallest details can make the biggest difference in a guest's stay.
We are looking for a hands on leader who can hold the housekeeping team accountable while also motivating and supporting them. This is not a position where you simply supervise from the sidelines. When the hotel needs you, you will be expected to jump in, clean rooms, support the team, and lead by example.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily operations of the Housekeeping Department and ensure rooms are cleaned to SOHO Suites standards.
- Conduct detailed room inspections before rooms are released as clean and available for guests.
- Hold Housekeeping team members accountable for cleanliness, productivity, attendance, and following hotel procedures.
- Coach team members when standards are not being met while also recognizing good work and helping employees improve.
- Maintain a positive team environment where employees feel supported while understanding that cleanliness standards are non negotiable.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager and General Manager to communicate housekeeping needs, challenges, room conditions, and staffing concerns.
- Help train new Housekeeping employees on proper cleaning procedures, room standards, chemical usage, safety, and hotel expectations.
Attention to Detail & Room Inspections
SOHO Suites places a major emphasis on room cleanliness and presentation. The Housekeeping Supervisor must have an exceptional eye for detail and be able to identify issues that may be missed during a standard cleaning.
- Inspect guest rooms thoroughly before marking them clean.
- Check bathrooms, floors, furniture, bedding, mirrors, windows, fixtures, and high touch areas.
- Pay special attention to corners, underneath furniture, behind doors, baseboards, and areas that are easily overlooked.
- Ensure rooms are properly stocked and prepared before being released.
- Follow up on guest cleanliness complaints and identify the root cause to prevent repeat issues.
HARD FLOOR CLEANING
Our rooms have hard flooring and no carpet, making proper floor cleaning one of the most important responsibilities of this position.
The Housekeeping Supervisor must ensure that every room is properly vacuumed and cleaned before it is marked as ready for a guest.
- Rooms must be thoroughly vacuumed before being marked clean.
- Pay close attention to sand, dirt, hair, dust, crumbs, and debris that can easily remain on hard floors.
- Vacuum along edges, corners, underneath beds, around furniture, and other areas where debris collects.
- Ensure floors are properly cleaned and free of visible dirt, hair, sand, and debris.
- Inspect the floor from different angles and lighting conditions when necessary.
- Train Housekeepers on the correct process for cleaning hard floors and explain why simply sweeping or quickly passing through a room is not enough.
- Make floor cleanliness a consistent inspection point for every room.
A room is not clean just because the bed is made. If the floor is dirty, the room is not ready.
Scheduling & Staffing
- Assist with creating and maintaining Housekeeping schedules.
- Help coordinate coverage when employees call out.
- Be prepared to cover call outs and assist with cleaning rooms when necessary.
- Adjust staffing and assignments based on occupancy, arrivals, departures, and operational needs.
- Communicate staffing issues quickly to the Operations Manager.
- Help ensure the department is properly staffed during busy weekends and high occupancy periods.
Hands On Support
- Be willing and able to clean guest rooms when needed.
- Step in during staffing shortages, call outs, heavy occupancy, or unexpected operational situations.
- Lead by example by demonstrating proper cleaning techniques and room standards.
- Assist the team during high volume departure days to ensure rooms are completed on time without sacrificing quality.
Chemicals & Safety
- Have strong knowledge of housekeeping chemicals and their proper use.
- Understand proper chemical dilution, labeling, storage, and handling procedures.
- Ensure team members are using chemicals safely and correctly.
- Never allow chemicals to be mixed improperly or used outside of their intended purpose.
- Train and remind employees about proper PPE and chemical safety procedures.
- Report chemical, equipment, or safety concerns to management immediately.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of housekeeping experience.
- Minimum 1 year of housekeeping supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong knowledge of housekeeping chemicals and cleaning procedures.
- Experience conducting room inspections.
- Ability to train, coach, and hold employees accountable.
- Ability to motivate employees and recognize good performance.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced hotel environment.
- Must be comfortable working with hard floor rooms and maintaining extremely high floor cleanliness standards.
- Must be willing to physically assist with room cleaning when necessary.
- Reliable, punctual, professional, and dependable.
The ideal candidate understands that housekeeping is one of the most important departments in the hotel.
Guests may forget the name of the person who checked them in, but they will remember walking into a room that was spotless, fresh, and comfortable.
We need a supervisor who can balance accountability with encouragement. You should be able to tell an employee when something is not good enough while also showing them how to improve and making them feel valued as part of the team.
You should be someone who sees a dirty floor, a missed detail, or an unfinished room and takes action immediately.
You will work closely with the Operations Manager and become an important part of maintaining SOHO Suites' room quality and guest satisfaction standards.
If you take pride in cleanliness, know how to lead people, are not afraid to get your hands dirty, and believe that every room should be guest ready before it is marked clean, we want you on our team.
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
Work Location: In person
