American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Psychiatric Unit position in an acute care setting, requiring 2 years of experience and a night shift schedule with every-third-weekend availability.

26-bed inpatient acute care psychiatric unit serving adult patients
-
Primary patient population is geriatric psychiatry (55+), with dementia and bipolar disorder among the most common diagnoses

Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6

Unit has a seclusion room; not currently staffed for 1:1 assignments

Night shift, 12-hour shifts (6p–6a)

Every third weekend required

Holiday coverage required

Epic EMR used on this unit

13-week contract

Active UT RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted

Current BLS certification (AHA) required; pending certifications not accepted

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Driver's license required for consideration

2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel rates; driver's license is used to verify permanent address

Provide inpatient behavioral health nursing care to adult psychiatric patients

Orientation is approximately 12 hours; clinicians must be on-site in state for the week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely

RNs at this facility are required to pass a Relias Dysrhythmia exam before an offer can be confirmed
-
RNs will be given a pass/fail test on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on the first day of orientation

Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
