Position Summary
Seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) Medical Assistant to support our growing RTM program. This position is responsible for conducting monthly patient outreach, documenting billable RTM services, monitoring patient engagement, and coordinating care with providers.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships with patients over the phone, is highly organized, and understands the importance of accurate documentation and regulatory compliance. The RTM Medical Assistant serves as a key point of contact for patients between office visits, helping improve treatment adherence and overall patient outcomes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct monthly telephone visits with RTM-enrolled patients.
- Build rapport with patients while assessing pain levels, mobility, functional status, medication effectiveness, and adherence to prescribed treatment plans.
- Review patient compliance with home exercise programs, therapy recommendations, and RTM devices or applications.
- Accurately document all patient interactions in the electronic medical record (EMR) to support Medicare and commercial payer billing requirements.
- Track and document cumulative RTM service time to ensure monthly billing thresholds are met.
- Identify changes in patient condition and promptly communicate concerns to the provider or clinical staff.
- Educate patients on the purpose and benefits of the RTM program while encouraging active participation.
- Assist patients with questions regarding RTM technology, mobile applications, and monitoring devices.
- Coordinate patient care by communicating with providers, medical assistants, schedulers, and other healthcare team members.
- Monitor patient enrollment, participation, and disengagement to maintain compliance with RTM program requirements.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality at all times.
- Complete assigned administrative tasks and reports related to the RTM program.
- Meet productivity and documentation standards established by the practice.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or in a patient care role.
- Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR).
- Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple patient interactions each day.
- Comfortable using computers, Microsoft Office, and healthcare software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM), Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM), Chronic Care Management (CCM), or Principal Care Management (PCM).
- Knowledge of Medicare documentation and billing requirements.
- Experience performing patient outreach or care coordination.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
