The part-time homeless academic support personnel is responsible for assuring that homeless children are fully integrated into the mainstream school setting and offered appropriate educational support as authorized under the McKinney-Vento Act for Homeless Education. The part-time homeless academic support personnel shall coordinate and collaborate with the Family Resource Center local coordinator, community, and school personnel responsible for the provision of education and related services to homeless students.

Identification of homeless students based on information gained from enrollment personnel

Assist with the coordination of the clothing closet and food pantry

Use case management style services to provide academic support to students by checking on attendance, grades, and other support needs

Tracking academic progress and working with students, teachers, and parents when need for improvement is identified

Collaborate with LEA Student Data Manager to code homeless students

Coordinate services with parents to increase their understanding and knowledge of available and appropriate resources and services

Coordinate with Family Resource Center and community to provide resources and services

Ensure homeless students receive educational services for which they are eligible, including health care, dental, vision services

Facilitate small curriculum-based support groups for students identified as needing extra support
