Member Services Manager
The Alaska Cabaret, Hotel, Restaurant, and Retailers Association (CHARR) seeks a motivated, detail-oriented, and reliable individual as a Member Services Manager. Key duties include planning and managing Alaska CHARR’s membership initiatives including member recruitment and retention efforts, identifying needs for new member services, developing new service programs, maintaining the integrity of the membership database, producing reports on metrics, and collaborating with other team members to update materials.
Responsibilities:
As the Member Services Manager, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service to members, ensuring satisfaction, and maximizing the use of member benefits. This role develops, implements, and updates the association’s membership recruitment and retention plan while fostering strong member relationships through regular communication. You will also identify needs for new services, spearhead their development, and support their implementation upon approval. Additional responsibilities include managing membership communications, coordinating renewals, preparing department budgets, attending events, and advancing association goals in collaboration with regional affiliates and national partners.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Developing, implementing, and updating the Association’s membership recruitment and retention plan.
- Fostering member relations with regular in-person and telephonic contact to assess members’ needs and satisfaction levels.
- Assisting members with gaining access to member benefits and services.
- Identifying needs for new services and working with the team to develop and implement new programs when approved by the President & CEO.
- Producing reports on department-related metrics.
- Developing a proposed annual department budget.
- Coordinating with the Digital Communications Coordinator and President & CEO to develop and update membership marketing materials.
- Maintaining member profiles in the association’s database.
- Producing and distributing electronic and print communications and invoices for membership renewals, making in-person visits and/or placing calls to past-due members.
- Writing updates for association publications as needed.
- Attending events and meetings as needed.
- Attend regional meetings and work in collaboration with affiliates to target and advance the goals and objectives of the association.
- Assisting with solicitation of sponsorships and registration for association events;
- Supporting quarterly raffles across CHARR, the CHARR PAC, and the Education Fund, including coordinating with the Gaming Manager to distribute raffle tickets to statewide businesses, tracking inventory, ensuring accurate returns and reporting, maintaining compliance with Alaska charitable gaming regulations and internal controls, and assisting with communications and logistical planning for each raffle cycle.

Qualifications:

- Spreadsheet expertise: extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, for retrieving, manipulating, and organizing data in spreadsheets for printing and mailing purposes.

- A high school graduate or equivalent who is 21 years or older is required.
- Experience in the hospitality industry is preferred.

- Strong public speaking skills.
- Must have a dependable vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
- Must have the ability to travel around Alaska (car, plane, etc. as necessary), including overnight (and occasional multi-night) stays

Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9a-5p. However, this position’s schedule will fluctuate in order to be successful; the incumbent will be expected to schedule their working hours around those of Alaska’s hospitality industry which often deviate from a regular office schedule.
