FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a CNC Lathe Machinist to support precision machining operations in a defense and aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for operating CNC lathe machines, setting up machines, submitting parts for first article approvals, inspecting parts using measuring equipment, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and supporting safety and quality initiatives throughout the facility. The ideal candidate will have CNC lathe experience, aerospace manufacturing experience, strong blueprint reading skills, and the ability to complete machining tasks with minimal supervision.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Operating one or more CNC lathe machines
- Setting up machines for production runs
- Submitting parts for first article approvals
- Using provided measuring equipment to inspect machined parts
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and sketches
- Completing assigned machining tasks with minimal supervision
- Following established work instructions, quality standards, and production requirements
- Supporting aerospace and defense manufacturing requirements
- Participating in safety improvement efforts throughout the facility
- Keeping assigned work areas clean, organized, and well maintained
- Performing basic machine maintenance as needed
- Communicating issues, quality concerns, or production needs to supervisors or team members
- Performing other duties as assigned
The selected candidate will also possess:
- 1+ year of CNC lathe machine operating experience required
- Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred
- Machine setup experience preferred
- Metrology experience preferred
- Experience using micrometers, height gauges, calipers, and related measuring tools required
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints required
- Ability to read engineering sketches preferred
- Basic machine maintenance experience preferred
- Programming background preferred
- Formal CNC training courses preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong safety mindset
- Ability to follow work instructions and quality procedures
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work onsite in San Diego, CA
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, crouch, push, pull, lift, carry, and move throughout manufacturing and machining areas as needed
- Ability to use hands and fingers for machine operation, measuring tools, hand tools, inspection, documentation, and standard machining tasks
- Ability to review blueprints, engineering sketches, work instructions, inspection documents, and computer screens as needed
- Ability to operate CNC lathe machines and related manufacturing equipment safely and accurately
- Ability to work around machinery, tools, materials, and manufacturing equipment while following all safety procedures
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, or move materials, parts, tools, or supplies as needed
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment as required in the manufacturing environment
Salary Range: $25 to $34/hour
