This position is responsible for freight car inspection and repair. You will participate in inspecting, repairing and maintaining railcars consistent with industry standards, company requirements and AAR/FRA requirements. Employees will be required to use hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment and measuring instruments as well as operate forklifts, torches, and occasional welders (if trained).Training is provided
- Inspect car components for compliance with FRA and AAR standards
- Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety and operations
- Work in all weather conditions (RAIN, SNOW, HOT, COLD)
- Climbing vertical ladders up to 20 ft
- Opening and closing railcar doors
- Welding experienced preferred but not required
