As a Grill Cook at Sloopy's Diner, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our guests enjoy consistently great meals.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Cooking menu items according to our established recipes and standards.
- Following precise recipes, portion sizes, and cooking procedures to ensure consistency.
- Reading tickets accurately and coordinating timing with the rest of the kitchen team.
- Maintaining speed and composure during busy shifts without sacrificing quality.
- Ensuring food safety by monitoring cooking temperatures, preventing cross-contamination, and following allergy procedures.
- Setting up, stocking, cleaning, and closing the grill station properly.
- Rotating ingredients using FIFO (First In, First Out) and reporting inventory or quality concerns. - Minimizing waste by using correct portions and maintaining efficient practices.
- Cleaning the grill, hood surfaces, equipment, floors, and surrounding work areas.
- Assisting with food preparation and supporting other kitchen stations as needed.
To be successful in this role, you must meet the following non-negotiable requirements:
- At least 1 year of experience working on a commercial grill or restaurant cook line.
- Consistent evening and weekend availability, including Fridays and Saturdays.
- Reliable transportation and a strong commitment to punctuality and attendance.
- The ability to prepare multiple orders quickly while maintaining quality and accuracy.
- Knowledge of safe food handling, cooking temperatures, sanitation, and cross-contamination prevention.
- The ability to follow recipes, portion standards, and ticket instructions with precision.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a kitchen team.
- Willingness to complete cleaning, prep, stocking, opening, and closing duties.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, work in a hot environment, and lift up to 50 pounds.
