Program: Mental Health Day Treatment
Reports To: Clinical Director
Employment Status: 1099 Contractor / Part Time
Schedule: Monday - Thursday ; 12:00PM - 4:00PM
About the Role:
As a Group Support team member, you’ll provide essential support and advocacy to children diagnosed with mental illness, primarily within Mental Health Day Treatment programming. Working under clinical supervision, you’ll assist in creating a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment that promotes client recovery and skill development. Your role involves hands-on client engagement, crisis stabilization, and helping clients navigate challenges related to mental health, social integration, and self-management.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist during Mental Health Day Treatment groups by supporting licensed clinicians and QMHS facilitators.
- Engage clients actively in treatment processes, fostering rapport and participation.
- Provide crisis intervention and stabilization when needed, including timely and appropriate responses during emergencies.
- Monitor symptoms and support client self-management through skill-building, social integration, and health maintenance activities.
- Empower clients by promoting self-determination based on their preferences, values, and strengths.
- Collaborate with the clinical team by attending meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions.
- Help maintain a therapeutic environment, including managing group dynamics and behavior during sessions and outings.
- Travel locally as needed to deliver services across designated locations.
- Document client progress and maintain confidentiality in compliance with organizational and legal standards.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children in a therapeutic setting.
- At least one year of experience in behavioral health or substance abuse treatment/prevention, preferably in a mental health setting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage clients, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize competing demands in a dynamic environment.
- Skilled in crisis management and problem resolution, demonstrating sound judgment and calm under pressure.
- Commitment to respecting client rights, confidentiality, and upholding professional ethics.
- Cultural competency and ability to work effectively with diverse client populations and interdisciplinary teams.
- Flexibility and adaptability to program changes and evolving client needs.
- Willingness to receive feedback and engage in ongoing professional development.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local travel.
Education & Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least 3 years of direct care service experience
- Experience delivering culturally relevant behavioral health services preferred.
- Must pass required background and security screenings.
