Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Front Office Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This vital role serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming, organized, and efficient front desk experience. Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression while managing check-in and check-out procedures.
- Schedule appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Verify patient insurance coverage, process payments, and handle medical collections with professionalism and accuracy.
- Manage incoming phone calls with courteous phone etiquette, directing inquiries appropriately and providing essential information.
- Maintain and update patient records in compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies, reviewing documentation for accuracy.
- Assist with medical billing processes, including CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 coding (International Classification of Diseases), and Medicare claims.
- Support clinical staff by preparing care plans, reviewing medical records, and ensuring proper documentation review.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical office administration or front desk support within clinics or healthcare settings.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth.
- Strong knowledge of health insurance procedures, medical billing, coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT), and Medicare processes.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and typing skills (10-key preferred).
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical confidentiality policies, and health information management standards.
- Previous clinic or hospital experience is preferred; dental clinic experience is a plus.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
