Job Description:
The Shop Laborer / Parts Runner supports shop and yard operations by assisting mechanics, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, delivering parts, and performing general labor duties. This position requires reliability, physical ability, and a willingness to assist where needed.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Parts Pickup & Delivery
- Pick up and deliver parts throughout Eastern North Carolina
- Maintain a valid North Carolina driver’s license and drive company vehicles safely
Shop Maintenance & Cleanup
- Sweep shop floors and maintain general cleanliness
- Take out trash and ensure work areas remain organized
Equipment & Vehicle Washing
- Wash pickup trucks and company equipment
- Operate a pressure washer to clean equipment as needed
Mechanical Support
Assist mechanics with various tasks, including:
- Lifting and moving parts or materials
- Handing tools and providing general support during repairs
Forklift Operation
- Load and unload materials using a forklift
- Safely move and stage materials as directed
Outdoor & Yard Maintenance
- Perform general yard cleanup and trash removal
- Cut grass and bushes
- Operate chainsaw and weed eater
- Apply herbicide (Roundup) as needed
Minimum Qualifications & Training:
Required:
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting and working outdoors
- Willingness to assist with a variety of tasks as needed
Preferred:
- Forklift experience
- Basic knowledge of operating equipment
- Mechanical experience or familiarity with shop environments
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to safely operate tools and equipment
