Job Summary:
The Project Manager will oversee vegetation management projects for utility clients, ensuring timely, safe, and high-quality execution within budget. This role involves coordinating field operations, managing client relationships, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong organizational skills and experience in vegetation management or related industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, schedule, and manage vegetation management projects, including tree trimming, herbicide application, and right-of-way maintenance.
- Coordinate with utility clients to define project scope, deliverables, and timelines.
- Supervise field crews, subcontractors, and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and report financial performance to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI Z133, environmental regulations, and client-specific safety standards.
- Conduct site inspections to verify work quality and adherence to project specifications.
- Resolve issues related to crew performance, client concerns, or unforeseen challenges.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, contracts, and permits.
- Foster strong client relationships to support repeat business and contract renewals.
- Implement process improvements to enhance project efficiency and safety.
Qualifications:
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in forestry, environmental science, project management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Preferred: 3+ years of project management experience in vegetation management, utility contracting, or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of utility vegetation management practices, including tree risk assessment and right-of-way maintenance.
- Ability to manage budgets, timelines, and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
- Familiarity with safety standards (OSHA, ANSI Z133) and environmental regulations.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Office ).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
- Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist or Utility Specialist certification.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in outdoor environments, including adverse weather conditions.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and walking/hiking in rugged terrain.
