Position: Speech-Language Pathologist
Reports To: Building Administrator

The District Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides comprehensive speech and language services to students across the district. The SLP is responsible for evaluating students, developing and implementing individualized intervention plans, providing direct and consultative services, and collaborating with teachers, families, administrators, and other professionals to support students' academic, social, and communication needs.

Conduct speech, language, and communication screenings and comprehensive evaluations as appropriate.

Identify students with communication disorders and determine eligibility for speech-language services in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements.

Develop, implement, and monitor speech-language goals and services outlined in students' IEPs.

Provide individual and/or small-group speech and language therapy using evidence-based practices.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including evaluation reports, progress reports, service logs, and other required records.

Participate as a member of multidisciplinary evaluation and IEP teams.

Collaborate with special education teachers, general education teachers, administrators, school psychologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, counselors, and other school personnel.

Consult with classroom teachers regarding strategies and accommodations that support students' communication needs.

Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress, needs, and services.

Monitor student progress and make appropriate adjustments to intervention strategies and goals.

Assist in the development of appropriate accommodations, modifications, and supports for students with communication needs.

Provide consultation and support for students who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, as appropriate.

Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA and applicable laws and regulations.

Ensure compliance with district policies and all applicable state and federal special education requirements.

Maintain professional licensure and participate in required professional development.

Assist the district in developing and implementing programs that promote strong communication skills and student success.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or building administrator.

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

Appropriate Indiana licensure/certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred or eligibility to obtain.

Experience working with school-age children preferred.

Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and evidence-based speech and language practices.

Strong communication, organizational, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively with students, families, teachers, administrators, and related service providers.

Ability to manage multiple caseloads and maintain accurate documentation.
The SLP must be able to work effectively in a school environment and travel between district buildings as assigned. The position may require sitting, standing, walking throughout the school day, working with students individually or in small groups, and occasionally assisting students with physical or communication needs.
The District Speech-Language Pathologist is expected to maintain high professional standards, demonstrate respect and compassion for students and families, protect student confidentiality, collaborate effectively with colleagues, and provide services that support the academic, social, emotional, and communication development of every student.
