The Part-Time Field Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily condition, maintenance coordination, and operational use of athletic grass and synthetic turf fields. This position ensures fields are properly prepared for practices, games, events, and rentals while providing on-site supervision and support during programs and scheduled activities. The coordinator helps maintain safe, high-quality playing surfaces and assists with scheduling, inspections, and communication between staff, leagues, and facility users.
- Conduct routine inspections of natural grass and synthetic turf athletic fields to ensure safe and playable conditions.
- Coordinate and assist with athletic field maintenance, including mowing, lining, dragging infields, watering, grooming synthetic turf, and general upkeep.
- Prepare fields for practices, games, tournaments, and special events.
- Assist with infield preparation and maintenance such as dragging, chalking/lining, mound and batter’s box repairs, and field setup.
- Monitor synthetic turf surfaces for debris, wear, and safety concerns and report maintenance needs.
- Provide on-site supervision during scheduled programs, athletic events, and facility rentals.
- Ensure field users follow facility policies, field usage guidelines, and safety procedures.
- Communicate with leagues, coaches, event organizers, and staff regarding field conditions and scheduling.
- Assist with field setup and breakdown for games, tournaments, and special events.
- Report maintenance issues, weather-related concerns, or facility damage to supervisors.
- Maintain inventory of field equipment and supplies.
- Assist with scheduling adjustments due to weather, field conditions, or maintenance needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience with athletic field maintenance, parks operations, or event supervision preferred.
- Knowledge of athletic field preparation and maintenance practices is desirable.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate basic grounds maintenance equipment if required.
- Part-time position with flexible hours.
- Evening, weekend, and occasional holiday work required based on program schedules and field use.
