American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

24-bed medsurg/telemetry overflow unit in a hospital setting
-
Patient ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6, with CNA support providing 1:12 support ratio
-
Telemetry is monitored remotely by a tech on another unit; nurse must be able to correctly treat dysrhythmias
-
Uses Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR communication systems

Night shift schedule: 3x12 hour shifts from 18:45-7:15
-
Every other weekend required
-
Floating required to sister units
-
13-week assignment length or longer, with option for 36 or 48 hours per week

Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
-
Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required

Current certifications: BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred

Telemetry experience required

Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Epic charting experience preferred

Skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, cardiac monitoring and emergency response, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response/code teams, isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management

Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted

Provide medsurg/telemetry nursing care collaborating with Novant Inpatient Care Specialists to restore physiologic stability and prevent complications

Work as part of a diverse, collaborative team focused on delivering a remarkable patient experience

Unit orientation is 36 hours, with hospital orientation occurring during the first week requiring daily class attendance

Navy blue scrubs required

Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility

Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
-
Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between per diem or travel contract status
-
RTO up to 7 days is auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
-
Must work 2 of 3 major holidays

Travel pairs are allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
