The Heard Museum’s Custodian performs custodial duties to maintain a clean, safe, and visually appealing Museum to the visiting public and Museum staff. Assists with set up before and clean up after Museum special events. This includes moving furniture and other fixtures, maintain custodial equipment and supplies, be a good teammate, work well with others, and be a front-line ambassador for visitor and staff’s environmental enjoyment and safety.
Job Duties:
- Sweep, wash, buff floors, and spot clean walls and doors.
- Wash windows and maintain smudge-free glass doors and mirrors.
- Wash and polish air grills and registers. Clear and clean elevator tracks and door thresholds.
- Clean, polish, disinfect restroom and event kitchen fixtures and equipment, fill tissue, towel dispensers, and feminine product machines.
- Maintain correct operating procedures for all powered cleaning equipment. Responsible for daily maintenance of machines and hand equipment.
- Empty wastebaskets, clean ashtrays, dust and wax furniture, and include high dusting.
- Sweep and clean storage, machine areas and equipment rooms.
- Assist with set up before and clean up after Museum special events. This includes moving furniture and other fixtures.
- Keep visitor touchpoints and eye view areas in showcase condition at all times: no smeared glass or fingerprints, clean restrooms, clear and clean walkways, ashtrays, trash bins, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Good listening skills and ability to follow direction
- Work independently
- Ability to complete tasks as directed
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
Employment Requirements:
- Saturday through Wednesday available a must.
- 6am to 10am required.
Education:
Previous Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year prior experience in custodian or similar duties
