Career Links is seeking a compassionate and student-centered School Counselor to provide comprehensive social-emotional and behavioral support services to students, families, and staff.
Required Licensure and Qualifications

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS)

School Support Personnel Endorsement – School Counselor (formerly Guidance)
-
Must meet all requirements outlined on the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) School Support Personnel Licensure webpage

Knowledge of child and adolescent development

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

Ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, families, and community partners
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Comprehensive School Counseling Program
-
Design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes student achievement, wellness, and equitable access to educational opportunities

Align counseling services with Illinois Learning Standards and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Standards
Core Counseling Curriculum
-
Deliver a core counseling curriculum using a collaborative model that:
-
Serves all students
-
Addresses developmentally appropriate knowledge and skills
-
Involve classroom teachers and other education professionals
-
Includes prevention and pre-referral activities
Counseling Services
-
Provide individual and group counseling to address academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and career-related needs
-
Make referrals, when necessary, to appropriate school-based services or outside agencies
-
Maintain appropriate documentation in accordance with ethical and legal guidelines
College and Career Readiness
-
Provide college and career development activities and counseling
-
Assist students in developing individual career plans
-
Support students with postsecondary planning, including college exploration, career pathways, and workforce readiness
Academic Planning and Student Support
-
Assist students in developing and maintaining Personalized Educational Plans
-
Consult and collaborate with teachers and school personnel regarding:
-
Behavior management strategies
-
Intervention plans
-
Inclusive practices to support diverse learners
Collaboration and Community Engagement
-
Partner with school staff, parents/guardians, businesses, and community organizations to support:

Student achievement
-
Social-emotional learning
-
Whole-child development
-
Participate in multidisciplinary teams and student support meetings
Additional Responsibilities
