Job Summary
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Part-Time/Per Diem Optometrist in Miami Lakes! In this exciting role, you will provide comprehensive eye care services, including vision assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans, to diverse patient populations. Duties
- Conduct thorough eye examinations using advanced diagnostic tools to assess visual acuity, eye health, and overall ocular function
- Diagnose and manage common eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and refractive errors
- Prescribe corrective lenses, medications, or treatments tailored to each patient's needs
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
- Educate patients on eye health, proper contact lens care, and preventive measures to promote long-term ocular wellness
- Collaborate with optical staff to recommend appropriate eyewear solutions and ensure optimal patient satisfaction
- Follow all HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality while handling sensitive medical information
- Stay current with advancements in ophthalmology and optometry practices through ongoing professional development
Skills
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles and physiology related to eye health
- Experience with optical equipment and understanding of optical products
- Ability to perform pediatric eye exams and address the unique needs of children
- Excellent patient care skills with a focus on customer service and effective communication
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical coding, and insurance billing processes
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for documentation and record keeping
- Knowledge of anatomy related to the eye and visual system for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Aseptic technique skills for maintaining a sterile environment during examinations and procedures
- Ability to measure vital signs as part of comprehensive patient assessments
- Understanding of medical records management, including compliance with HIPAA standards
- Sales aptitude for recommending appropriate eyewear or accessories while ensuring ethical practices
