What does a Senior Application Developer do?
Under direction, performs a wide range of application development related duties including analysis, design, evaluation, development, coding, testing and maintenance of complex application systems in a healthcare data and analytics unit.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Writes, troubleshoots, and optimizes complex Transact and PL SQL (Procedural Language/Structured Query Language) codes to ensure that implementation of pay-for-performance program measures and sub-measures are aligned with the annual expansions and changes required by the state.
Investigates and fixes data anomalies through root cause analysis in pay-for-performance program measure implementations through root cause analysis using a variety of analytics tools and methods such as merging records from various tables, comparing results using Excel, Tableau and other ETL processors (Extract, Transform, Load).
Builds complex data models for business intelligence solutions consumption and creates dashboards and reports using data visualization tools such as Tableau and Business Objects using those models.
Applies transformations, data cleansing, normalization best practices, as well as abstraction and inheritance programming concepts to ensure quality data solutions.
Responsible for eliciting and documenting user requirements for large, highly complex new systems or system enhancements; ensures functional and technical requirements are fully documented. Translates technical tasks to a non-technical audience.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
EXAMINATION CONTENT
This examination will consist of an Evaluation of Training & Experience (T&E): This assessment type will evaluate the training and experience you list on the online application and supplemental questionnaire and assign a score based on a standardized scoring system. This part of the assessment is worth 100% of your total score and assesses: Requirements, Desirable Qualifications, and Supplemental Questionnaire.
Applicants must receive a passing score of 70% or higher on the assessment to be added to the list.
ELIGIBILITY AND VACANCY INFORMATION

Applicants who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a list for a period of twelve (12) months. We will use this list to fill vacancies in the Department of Health Services as they occur.
SPECIAL INFORMATION
Appointees may be required to work any shift, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
