We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Low Voltage Data / Network Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low-voltage telecommunications and data systems across various environments. Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and test structured cabling including Cat5, Cat6, and fiber optic systems in commercial and industrial settings
- Perform fiber splicing and fiber optic system installation to ensure high-quality connectivity
- Troubleshoot and repair network equipment such as Cisco routers, Juniper devices, VoIP systems, and telecommunication hardware
- Conduct site surveys using diagnostic tools and perform network wiring according to schematics and technical specifications
- Assist with the setup and configuration of Ethernet networks, LANs (Local Area Networks), and telecommunication systems
- Use hand tools, power tools, electrical testing equipment (like ohmmeters), and telecommunication testing devices to diagnose issues
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating technical information clearly and efficiently to clients
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or in a similar low-voltage/data networking role with a focus on telecommunications systems installation and maintenance
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet, LAN/WAN configurations, Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and VoIP technology
- Hands-on experience with fiber splicing, fiber optic cabling, cable termination (Cat5/Cat6), and structured cabling installation
- Ability to read schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams accurately
- Familiarity with electrical systems including AC/DC electrical wiring and NEC (National Electrical Code) standards
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters, network testers, RF testers for radio frequency testing, and telecommunications testing equipment
- Knowledge of telephony systems like Avaya or similar platforms is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional approach when interacting with clients on-site
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to work in various environments including heights or confined spaces if required
