Position Description
Position Title:Technology Director
Overall Responsibility:
Technical oversight of all multimedia requirements forworship and ministries.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Actively supports the mission and the vision of the church
2. Provides technical assistance and oversight for worship services and rehearsals connected to those services(generally 9:00 and 11:00 AM services on Sundays, and Wednesday evening rehearsals).
3. Creates slideshows for weekly worship services.
4. Oversees the day-to-day management of the technical needs of the church, especially as it relates to worship.5. Designs and implements a schedule for unpaid technical staffto meet the technical needs for weekend and special worship services.
6. Builds and leads an effective team of unpaid technical volunteers.a. Establishes an ongoing plan of recruitment, training, support and supervision of tech volunteers to provide the highest degree of excellence in multimedia technology by running sound and visual tech for worship services and special events.b. Coordinates the scheduling of tech volunteers to cover the needs of all worship services and special events
7. Maintains all technical equipment, using in-house andcontract services
8. Advises the worship teams regarding upgrade, purchase, and repair of equipment.a. Submits a yearly budget request to the Finance Team by the date requested.
9. Provides leadership in staying on the cutting edge technically and improving the use of the technical/multimedia arts to enhance the ministries of the church.a. Stays up with trends and developments in the various aspects of this ministry through self-education and training events.
10. Monitors sound quality within the church on a regular basis.
11. Sets up livestreaming for Sunday worship services and occasional funerals, weddings, and holiday services.
12. Manages technology licenses for the church.
Qualifications:
1. An active commitment to the ministry of the Penn Yan United Methodist Church.
2. Displays leadership qualities.
3. Demonstrates expertise and professionalism in multimedia/technical arts (computer, video, sound).
4. Has a strong desire to be part of a team and ability work with the existing worship teams.
5. Has the ability to manage time efficiently, meet deadlines, and be prepared and on time for areas of responsibility.
6. Demonstrates knowledge of and proficiency in presentation software programs, video, sound, and lighting as they relate to the worship services
7. Has proven people, organizational, communication, and administrative skills.
Work Relationships:
1. Shall report directly to the pastor and work closely with other staff members and ministry areas in the worship ministries of the church organizational structure.
2. Shall supervise volunteer multimedia/technical support staff.
3. Staff-Parish Relations Committee shall act as the employer. Job analysis and salary conditions are subject to yearly review.
4. Staff-Parish concerns should be brought to the pastor and/or the chairperson of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee.
Work Agreements:
1. This is a part-time position (approximately 8-10 hours/week)requiring flexibility for supervising and coordinating the multimedia needs of the congregation. Schedule normally includes Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, and a few flexible hours each week.
2. Policies are outlined in the employee reference guide, which will be provided upon hire.
Pay: $16.50 per hour
