Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and document residents’ health status, vital signs, and behavioral changes with attention to safety and comfort
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure proper patient care
- Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs while maintaining cleanliness in common areas
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts and perform heavy lifting safely to assist with mobility or transfers
- Engage residents in social activities, recreational programs, and community outings to promote socialization and mental stimulation
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks and adhering to infection control protocols
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or Alzheimer’s care is highly desirable
- Knowledge of first aid, CPR certification, and emergency response procedures to ensure resident safety
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and patient care; attentive to changes in behavior or health status
- Familiarity with assisted living environments, nursing homes, or home & community care settings
- Ability to follow detailed care plans accurately while respecting resident confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members, residents, families, and healthcare professionals
- Physical stamina for activities involving heavy lifting, long periods of standing or walking, and assisting with mobility
