Overview
The role of a Loan Officer/ Member Service Representative is to complete all lending activities of the Branch and to provide excellent member service while performing account transactions generated through lobby, telephone, and mail.
The successful candidate will be able to perform in-depth loan interviews and analyze member financial conditions to include credit history, credit score, collateral, ratios and other financial information to determine acceptability of the credit request based on the credit union’s predetermined lending guidelines. Additionally, they will need to accept and accurately process member transactions (deposits, withdrawals, transfers, etc.), open accounts and be able to work with members, co-workers and management.
Duties
- Perform in-depth loan interviews and analyze member financial conditions to include credit history, credit score, collateral, ratios and other financial information to determine acceptability of the credit request based on the credit union’s predetermined lending guidelines.
- Perform consumer underwriting process from application to close.
- Keep an accurate record of all loan applications including; status of the application, documenting your work, noting the loan file and updating the loan log.
- Assist members with all loan activities including; loan applications, loan inquiries and loan closings.
- Respond to member inquiries in regards to their loan accounts.
- Look for other credit union products that may fit the member’s deposit and loan needs.
- Accept and accurately process member transactions (deposits, withdrawals, transfers, etc.)
- Open new deposit accounts and complete all the proper documentation.
- Assist members with online banking, plastic card issues, inquiries and questions, including but not limited to theft and/or card loss and new PIN requests.
- Answer the phone in the Branch professionally, promptly, and pleasantly.
- Keep members’ personal information confidential.
- Ensure compliance with security and audit procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of all related compliance and regulatory issues including, but not limited to: Reg CC, Reg D, Reg E, Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot’s Act.
- Review and maintain knowledge of all Credit Union products including loan products that will meet members needs and grow the credit union.
- Recommend approved member services area policy changes and product enhancements.
- Communicate professionally with members and other credit union employees.
- Adhere to all credit union policies and procedures
- Completes annual regulatory training and participates in other training deemed important by Management to enhance knowledge of position.
- Filing, data entry, and other clerical duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired Job Competencies:
- Excellent member service skills
- Ability to communicate over the phone, online, or in-person with the public.
- Data Analysis-gathering, manipulating, processing, and evaluating numeric data to guide credit union decision.
Desired Education and Work Experience:
- 2-year college degree
- Minimum 2 years of experience in banking or in a credit union
- Minimum 3 years of customer service experience
- Lending experience at a financial institution a plus

Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
