Job Overview
State38 Safety Compliance Facility is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our state-licensed cannabis testing laboratory serving the Kentucky cannabis market. This will be an in-lab fast-paced, production-driven, and highly regulated environment.
This role is responsible could be responsible for potency testing support, quality control documentation, inventory management, metals annalysis and laboratory operations in accordance with Kentucky cannabis regulations and ISO/IEC 17025 quality standards.
The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and thrives in a laboratory environment where accuracy, efficiency, and compliance are critical. Candidates with prior cannabinoid sample preparation experience, HPLC experience, ICP-MS experience, QQQ LC-MS experience or working in cannabis, environmental, food, pharmaceutical, or analytical laboratories are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive laboratory analyses of cannabis samples, including microbiology, histology, molecular biology, metals, pesticides and chemical testing, ensuring adherence to established SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Maintain rigorous laboratory safety protocols and sterile techniques during sample handling and testing procedures.
- Utilize Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to accurately record data, track samples, and generate detailed reports for quality control and regulatory compliance purposes.
- Perform routine quality control assessments on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products to verify potency, purity, and consistency in accordance with industry standards.
- Execute microbiological testing to detect contaminants such as bacteria, fungi, or molds that could compromise product safety.
- Assist in research & development initiatives by supporting experiments related to cannabis extraction methods, formulation stability, or new product testing.
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with federal regulations including FDA guidelines and CGMP standards for industrial laboratories.
- Handle chemicals safely following chemical handling safety procedures while maintaining meticulous records of all procedures performed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including scientists, regulatory specialists, and production staff to optimize laboratory workflows and improve testing accuracy.
Experience
- Prior experience working in an industrial or clinical laboratory setting with a focus on scientific research or quality control is highly preferred.

- Demonstrated knowledge of GLP (Good Laboratory Practice), CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practice), and FDA regulations relevant to pharmaceutical or botanical products.
- Hands-on experience with microbiology techniques, histology preparation, molecular biology methods (such as PCR or DNA/RNA extraction), and chemical analysis methods (like chromatography).
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques involving sterile procedures and chemical handling safety procedures is essential.
- Proficiency in using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for data collection, sample tracking, and report generation.
- Strong understanding of veterinary terminology or animal physiology is a plus if working on research related to veterinary applications of medical cannabis.
- Experience working within research settings focused on scientific research or product development enhances your candidacy.
- Excellent analysis skills paired with attention to detail ensure accurate results that meet strict regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to comply with Kentucky cannabis employment requirements
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented laboratory environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Ability to follow SOPs and maintain compliance within a regulated laboratory environment.
